The Process

 Many of the large Foodservice chains and Club stores create very tight specifications and demand consistency so that ever menu item looks the same which creates mass amount of waste. For example - if onions are not the perfect ring for a burger the inside and outside of the onion is wasted. We pride ourselves at ReCruz to redirect the imperfect!

About Us

How It Started

In 2020 Kamryn Apelo Cruz noticed there was an issue while working at a large restaurant chain, food manufacturing facility, and at events.  She kept seeing food waste everywhere and wanted to make a change.  Kamryn started ReCruz, It started with redirecting to a local dairy farm and grew.  After a few months we started redirecting to further manufacturers to reuse by-product produce into new delicious products. 

To Further Manufacturers

By sending the by-product to manufacturers the by-product produce is able to be reused and repurposed into a brand new product and extend the life of the produce.  Not only is the produce helping the manufacturers reduce their cost they are also making a difference by keeping it out of the landifll.

To Local Dairy

Fun Fact: The first layer of romaine and green leaf lettuce is removed before processing.  The majority of what we redirect to local dairy is lettuce.  Redirecting waste to dairy feed reduces the amount of cattle water intake by 1/3.

Vision

To provide a myriad of up-cycling solutions, uniting local food producers to collaborate in food waste-reducing partnerships that will eliminate excess waste.  In the future, we would love to work with more facilities to help them redirect their waste.  We intend on redirecting all waste from the facilities to ensure the waste is not deteriorating the landfill. Giving back to our community
